SEPTEMBER GUIDED WALKS

No booking is required for any of these walks: just come along! You will be most welcome.
(The Potted Meat Stick at which two of the walks start, is a memorial water fountain in the centre of Baildon, adjacent to the Ian Clough car park and the roundabout. BD17 6ND).

*** ARCHAEOLOGY WALK ON BAILDON MOOR. Saturday 9th September. Our regular “2nd Saturday walk” for this monthh and the final walk advertised as part of the Walking Festival. 2 miles. Starting at 10.30 from the high (Upper Eaves) at car park on Bingley Road (opposite entry-track to Dobrudden), we will walk and talk about the local archaeology, and an insight into human interaction with the landscape over 4,000 years. The route will follow tracks and paths across the moor, and strong footwear is recommended. This walk is arranged in partnership with FRIENDS OF BRACKEN HALL. Led by Eddie Nash.

*** THE FLYING SCOTSMAN WALK. Sunday 10 September. (This walk was offered in August, but at the last minute the Flying Scotsman was cancelled because of maintenance issues). 4 miles. The Flying Scotsman is now due this coming Sunday to pass through Shipley between 11 and 11.15am. She has completed her emergency repairs. Meet Pat Addinell at The Potted Meat Stick at 9.45am for a walk down the hill to a viewing point, where we’ll stop for refreshments (bring your own!) and photos. The return uphill walk will be thro’ Fairbank Wood and back to Baildon by 1pm. No stiles but steep uneven terrain on the way back.

*** BAILDON GINNELS AND GARDENS. Thursday 21 September. For those who were not able to join this walk on the Launch Day of Baildon Walking Festival, we are offering it again. 2 miles. Meet Chris Flecknoe at 10.00am on the terrace at Wesleys, Baildon Methodist Church (BD17 5NH) to start a gentle stroll around some delights and places of historical interest around the centre of Baildon. Return by 12.30. There are some steps, possibility of wet grass, and one short steepish ascent. Perhaps we can introduce you to some corners of Baildon that have not previously discovered.
