Meet Bob Davidson and historian of the Shipley to Guiseley Rail Line, Peter Kerr, at The Potted Meat Stick in the centre of Baildon at 10.00am.Copies of Peter’s book “Baildon Station and the Shipley to Guiseley Railway 1876-2016 “will be available.

This walk is in Memory of Stewart Main who died last year. Stewart was involved in the Local History Society for many years; helped produce the Heritage walks; contributed to a book about Tong Park and loved trains. We think he would have loved this walk.

We will walk down Ladderbanks Lane, along to the Tong Park viaduct – our very own “Ribblehead Viaduct” – and then follow the line back to Shipley, through Baildon Station, Charlestown and across the River Aire and the Leeds/Liverpool Canal. We expect to be in Shipley by 13.00 at the latest. The walk is 4.5 miles, steady descent to Tong Park and fairly level into Shipley.

Refreshment opportunities in Shipley. Return to Baildon on public transport from centre of Shipley.

We are sorry that we cannot accept any dogs other than assistance dogs on our guided walks.

Please wear footwear with non-slip soles – it may be muddy in places, and come dressed for all weathers. Bring some water, and any medication you might need. Our walks leaders are not all First Aid trained. They carry a mobile phone and will summon emergency assistance in the unlikely event that this is required.
