8 miles. Meet walks leader, Bob Davidson at the Potted Meat Stick in the centre of Baildon at 10.00am.

This is a one way walk and we will return to Baildon by train. We will leave Baildon via Sconce, passing Faweather Grange and on up onto Hawksworth Moor. We will cross the  moor picking up the Ebor way above Burley Woodhead and hope to enjoy views of Wharfedale as we follow the edge of the Moor along to the Cow and Calf rocks. From here, we will drop down to Ilkley via one of the Stanza Stones ( more information will be sent to Walkers) and Ilkley Tarn. Walk expected to last 4.5 hours: time of return to Baildon will depend on which train we connect with. Trains leave at 21 and 51 minutes past the hour. The standard fare is £3.60 with reductions for railcards. Option to stay longer in Ilkley and make your own way home later. Bring a packed lunch and any other refreshments needed. Possible refreshments outside at Cow and Calf cafe depending on restrictions and in Ilkley . All walking is on recognised paths and tracks with varied terrain. Some steep gradients and rocky/muddy paths. Strong footwear , hat and waterproofs essential. Face mask essential for train journey and any shop/cafe visits.

Contingency plan: if changes in restrictions make use of the train impossible, we will use the Grand Circuit of Baildon Moor and Shipley Glen which is in our Four Walks leaflet and can be found in the self Guided walks on the Baildon walkers are Welcome website. This is a 6 mile walk of moderate difficulty and will take about 3 hours. Longer if we stop at the Shipley Glen tea room which now has a large gazebo covering their terrace , offering welcome shelter if it is wet!

GUIDANCE FOR PEOPLE WISHING TO JOIN ONE OF OUR “AUTUMNAL SIXER” GUIDED WALKS:

1. Please read the description of the walks on offer carefully, in order to choose one that suits you.

2. Leaders will not be able to give you any personal assistance which would involve close proximity or touch during the walk (except in an emergency), e.g. to cross stiles, or manage slippery slopes, so if you think you might need assistance please bring along a family member (i.e. book 2 places).

3. Please bring with you:
* any medication you might need, including plasters;
* hand santiser;
* water bottle and any snacks.

4. Please remember that, many paths will be stony or muddy (after all the rain we have been having) so please wear walking shoes or boots with non-slip soles.

5. To book, email info@baildonwalkersarewelcome.org giving the following information:
* Title and date of the walk you wish to book on.
* Your name/s, address, telephone number, email address.
* An emergency contact – name and telephone number – that we should contact in case you became ill during the walk.
* Any significant health information that you feel the leader should be aware of (we will treat this information in strict confidence and it will only be shared with the walk leader).

6. We will let you know quickly if we have been able to reserve a place for you on your chosen walk.

7. If, after having booked, you do not feel well in the days leading up to the walk, or on the day itself, please stay at home and do not join the walk. You can inform us that you are not going to participate by emailing the info@baildonwalkersarewelcome.org email

8. If you arrive at the meet-up point appearing unwell, or without the footwear and clothing appropriate to the walk and time of year, the Walks Leader may need to ask you not to start the walk.

9. The walks will take place even if it is raining. We will only cancel if the weather is so bad as to be deemed a potential hazard – in which case we will telephone you as early as possible to let you know.
