WATER, WOODS, AND WOOLPACK: A BAILDON WALKERS ARE WELCOME "SECOND SATURDAY GUIDED WALK" @ Meet at Baildon Potted Meat Stick,

Meet Paul Robinson at The Potted Meat Stick in the centre of Baildon (adjacent to the Ian Clough Hall car park / BD17 6LX)

An 8 mile moderate walk through beautiful woodland, along river and canal before passing an iconic Emmerdale village pub on the return journey.

Our walk takes us down little used alleyways and ginnels before crossing Otley Road and entering the Denso Nature Reserve. After admiring the wide variety of flora and fauna we will cross the River Aire and the Leeds to Liverpool canal before entering Buck Wood, which may be muddy. We will walk along the woodland path before emerging onto the canal towpath and our lunchtime stop at a farmyard tea room (sandwiches, coffee and cakes etc.), or bring a packed lunch to eat by the canal. After lunch we will cross the River Aire into the Esholt estate and make our way through woodland into Esholt village and the Woolpack where we can take a short refreshment break. The journey back takes us uphill to the golf course at Hollins Hall, then down to Tong Park dam. The final leg involves a climb up through a narrow wooded byeway before returning to Baildon village centre for around 3.15 pm.

Please come appropriately dressed for the weather, and in walking boots or shoes with a good grip. Our Walks Leaders are not necessarily first aid trained, so please bring any medication or minor first aid equipment with you, plus water to drink and any snacks you may wish to nibble en route.  Sorry – we cannot accept dogs (except assistance dogs) on our guided walks.
